The Perspective Shift That Changes Everything

In this meditation, we'll practice taking the perspective that life may be happening FOR us rather than TO us.

Let's start by finding a comfortable posture. This could be sitting down, lying down or standing .If it feels okay to do so, you can close your eyes. And we'll take a deep breath together to settle in. Breathing in through the nose. And slowly out through the mouth.

Inviting the jaw to soften. The shoulders. And the belly. And you can allow any other tension in the body that you might be holding on to to feel as though it's melting away. As the body relaxes, the mind can relax.

And we'll let our breath settle back into its natural rhythm. And let's spend a few moments, just connecting to the breath with our awareness as a way to stabilize our attention and deepen our presence. As the mind wanders, which it always will, just give it a gentle acknowledgement. Hello thought. Thank you, thought.

Goodbye, thought. And then bring that attention right back to this breath. This is the bicep curl for the mind over and over. And as you attune to the breath, it's impossible not to feel this life force moving through you. You're alive right now.

The body is breathing you. And you may start to feel the strength that comes with that and the possibility for how you'll show up in each moment, the quality of presence and the mindset that you'll bring to it. So as you show up with presence right now, feeling yourself breathing, feeling your innate aliveness, seeif you can take the perspective that life is happening for you rather than to you. With each breath in, you're taking in life. And with each breath out, offering something back.

The breathing in is a gift. It's an opportunity. It's life itself. And in each moment of our life where receiving something, some sort of stimulus, an experience, sometimes what we want and sometimes what we don't want. It's a very different experience though, going through life with the perspective that everything is happening for me.

There's something to learn something to meet as a challenge and something that might strengthen me in ways I can't yet perceive So take a few moments to feel that in your presence right now. We'll take one more breath before we close. In through the nose. And out through the mouth. When you're ready, you can open your eyes.

Well done. As you go throughout your day, try to infuse this perspective shift into your presence. Life is happening for you. You can meet it and you can grow from it. Thank you for your practice. And until we talk again, take care.
