Hey there. Welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. I think it can be helpful to sometimes think of our life as a hero or heroine's journey. When things aren't going well, we can feel like we're stuck as if things will always be this way. However, if you were the hero or heroine of your own story, what would the next moment look like? What inner resources have the writers of your story provided you with to overcome the challenges and uncertainties you face? How does this moment of your life fit into a much larger story that hasn't yet fully been written? When we take this perspective, a few things happen.

One, we see the story isn't over yet, which garners new hope, a powerful character strength for dealing with uncertainty. Two, were reminded of our autonomy to choose how we will show up and influence our next moment, which is the direct opposite of a feeling of helplessness. And three, when we view ourselves in the arc of the hero or heroine's journey, we give new meaning to the challenge we current, currently face. Recognizing that any of the journey involves great challenge, but it's precisely the struggles that bring out the hero or the heroine's best qualities. Ultimately helping them learn, grow and flourish.

In fact, any journey that you've ever watched in a movie or ever aspire to, I'm sure you've seen has some setbacks, has some perceived failures, has some doubt, has some questioning. Maybe that's just the place where you're at right now and the story hasn't ended. How will the next moment play out for you on your journey? That's up to you. Thank you for your practice.
