Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, I want to talk about why we might not need to suffer. So I want to start by sharing a provocative statement. There is no amount of sadness, grief, or pain that requires one to suffer. There is no amount of sadness, grief, or pain that requires one to suffer.
So just notice what it's like to hear that. So here's the logic around that. These experiences, sadness, pain, grief are, are the result of life expressing itself through your human form. It's natural. It's, it's what the body is designed to experience.
It's part of being human. Suffering happens when we resist how the human form is designed to experience life. We don't like it. We don't want what we're feeling here. We want to push it away.
We want to be over with it. But freedom lies in our acceptance of the human condition and the permission to live it fully, this moment of what's arising. And it's true that the suffering we create sometimes through our resistance can be an integral and inevitable part of how we wake up to a new way of relating to our experience. This is often the journey to our freedom, our wholeness and permission, realizing that we, we fought against an experience for so long and it didn't help us. It just created more tension.
Sometimes we need to go through that feeling sad and then being angry that we're sad and being angry that we're angry that we're sad. And we might not feel like we have much control over it. It's just a pattern, a cycle that we need to work through until the mind really sees there's got to be a different way. This isn't serving me. It's creating extra suffering, extra tension.
And then there can be an organic release. So we can acknowledge that. But hopefully the, the promising nugget of this is that there is a way to be in relationship to painful experiences in your life without creating this extra layer of suffering and torment. And that's how there can actually be this, it's almost provocative to say, but like a beauty in pain. It's just tenderizing us.
It's it's opening us. We're so surrendered to this human experience that where we're just brought to our knees and where we're trusting something bigger in us to hold it because we can't, like the ego mind just can't hold it. It makes no sense. That's where surrender comes in and it often is a doorway to a totally different way of relating to, to our life. So again, these are big topics and you might not be going through something difficult right now, or you might be going through something very difficult.
I think the beauty of this practice is that it allows us to engage with our life from a place of feeling resourced without creating extra tension, extra suffering, or exploring when we do, and then trying to figure out what is a different way of relating to our experience. Big work. So a lot of gratitude and respect for you being on that journey. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
