Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about changing negative self-talk. So I recently wrote a book called, Stop Missing Your Life. It was my first book and it was a very big undertaking. And there were many times throughout that process where, I have to be honest, I noticed some negative self talk.
I found myself thinking about what people would say if it wasn't good. And also thinking a lot about the one star Amazon reviews, the potential one star Amazon reviews. But I came across something during my writing that really inspired me. And it was from Brené Brown and she said, "Write with the cheering voices in mind." Write with the cheering voices in mind. And for me, that was profound in the moment because I wasn't writing with the cheering voices in mind.
I was writing with the critiquing voices in mind. And as I said, the one-star Amazon reviews and mind not the five star reviews. And I found that when I wrote with him cheering voices, my family, my friends, or the people that would potentially love the book, it really changed my energy around writing. I was more creative. I took more risks.
Uh, I had more energy to write. And I've been taking this little saying write with the cheering voices in mind and applying it to other areas of my life, which is why I wanted to share it with you here. You may not be writing a book, but I know you are a human being and you're doing a lot of things in the world. And a lot of times with the things that we're doing were doing them with the critiquing voices in mind, what would it be like to shift that and do things with the cheering voices in mind? It's something to play with. And if you're like me, I think you'll find a lot of benefit from it.
At the very least it's much more fun and enjoyable to go through life in that way, with the cheering voices in the background, instead of the constant critiquing voices. Try it out, see how it works for you. Thank you for your practice. I'll talk to you in the meditation and take care.
