Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about becoming your own therapist. So there are a lot of moments throughout the day that are difficult, painful. And often when we feel like something is off, there can be an impulse to go to others for help. And I want to start by saying, that's great.

And that should be normalized. It's often a growth process for many of us to learn to ask for help and to receive it. And with that said, there are a lot of moments when we might default to reaching out for someone else or something else when, if we were to spend a few moments dropping in and taking some space inside of us, we'd see that we actually have the resources to meet this moment. And so a quick practice I've been playing with is when something like that arises, I just take a breath. And then I say to myself, if I were to be my own therapist in this moment, what would I say? What would I say to myself? And it's interesting, but there's something about taking that perspective of associating into a therapist relationship to myself, or even a good friend relationship to myself where I can actually come up with something that feels pretty wise that I didn't realize I had this wisdom beforehand.

I actually know what I would say to myself in this moment. And the, the default reactivity of, oh, I need to reach out to someone about this is more a pattern of conditioning rather than a deep need in that moment. And so sometimes we just need to be reminded or we need to take a moment to remind ourselves that we actually have the resources to meet this moment. Sometimes we don't, and sometimes a really good thing is to reach out to a friend or a therapist, especially the, the deeper stuff. I think there's a lot of stuff throughout the day where we just need to be reminded like, Hey Cory, you actually know what to do in this experience.

And by associating into that therapist relationship, it makes us feel like we have maybe more wisdom than we're aware of in the moment. So try this out today. When you're going through something difficult and there is this impulse of like, oh, I need help right now, take a breath and ask yourself. If I were to be my own therapist, what would I say to myself in this moment? Hope this gives you something to think about on your mindfulness journey. Thank you for your practice and let's settle in for today's meditation.
