Aligning With Your Truth

Personalized support for learning how to integrate mindfulness into your life. Delivered fresh everyday by our world renowned experts. Choose meditation duration:

Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about aligning with your truth. Now, the first thing I'll say about this is that everything changes when you focus more on aligning your life with what is true in each moment, than playing out the ego's stories about what your life could or should be. I've also found that this is a side effect of meditation practice. We become much more drawn to and fulfilled by aligning with what is true than we are seduced by the stories about what could be or should be.

But this can be tough, because what is true? Are the ego's stories not true? That little voice in your mind. Aren't these just thoughts that are worthwhile and worth listening to? Are we not listening to thoughts in the mind when listening for what is true? Is it just gut instinct that's supposed to guide us? Is that the truth? What if our gut instinct is related to trauma conditioning, telling us that a bad relationship is actually good for us? The question just becomes, what voice do I listen to? How do I know what is true? And I get it. It's hard. Well, in many ways it's simple, but it's hard to see the simplicity of this when there's so much noise. And the only way to drop beneath the noise is to get more grounded.

It's very difficult, if not impossible, to listen to the soft whispers of what is most true in the depth of your being when we're so used to identifying with thoughts, ideas, and all the stories about our life. And it's not that thoughts and ideas are bad. There's a lot of wisdom that can be transmitted there. In fact, sometimes those soft whisper, whispers of truth arise as thoughts, telling us what is true in this moment, what we need to do. But to see when they're aligned with truth, requires being connected to the part of you that is not stirring in the agitation of thinking, life, conditioning and just all of the momentum that we can so easily get caught up in.

Thoughts from parents, from friends, from culture around us. So a meditation practice helps with this. An embodiment practice like yoga or Tai Chi helps with this. Taking some time in nature to be still, it helps with this. There are many pathways to developing a grounded mind and heart that can more clearly hear a deeper truth within you.

The main takeaway though, is that some form of grounding is essential to access this, what we could call, intuitive wisdom. Otherwise, these ideas will just come across as more noise and cognitive exercises. So as you continue your meditation journey, notice how there's the thoughts in your mind, all of the, the chaos, the agitation, and when you start to get still, there's a more simple communication that can arise. Sometimes it's a thought. Sometimes it's a felt sense in the body.

Sometimes it's a gut instinct. But that is getting you closer to what is true in each moment, and then your practice is to align with that. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
