Hey, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. Today I'd like to share a mantra you can use throughout the day to help cultivate greater calm, amid the chaos of your life. It's very simple and it's something you can drop into your awareness in moments that feel overwhelming, confusing, confusing, or even out of your control. You just say, 'right now, it's like this.' Right now, it's like this. I first gleaned this mantra from the great meditation teacher Vinny Ferraro.
And what I love about this mantra is that it's not doing anything to change your circumstance, nor is it trying to sugarcoat it in any way. Instead, it's just a simple acknowledgement that, Oh, right now, the moment is like this. And for me, I don't know if you have this experience, but as soon as I say that, it creates more spaciousness to hold what is here. The part of me that might resist the experience or try to change it in some way is invited to soften and simply rest in a gentle awareness of this moment of my life. There's also a powerful pre, presupposition in this mantra, which is that not all moments are like this.
It's saying right now, it's like this, not forever, not always, just right now. And when we contend to this moment fully with openness, self-compassion and softness. We have the opportunity to expand into the bigness of who we are, what the Zen tradition might call big mind, so that the experience that we're going through can be held with more space rather than being right here in front of us, clouding our vision. And with more space, the experience is then given the opportunity to transform, pass, as all experiences eventually do. So as you go about your day, see if you can invite this mantra into more of your moments, right now, it's like this.
